Mount Sopris Instruments, together with our sister company, Advanced Logic Technology (ALT), wish to thank you for entrusting us with your business this past year. As a loyal customer, we thought you might be interested in some of the highlights from the past year and a preview of some exciting new developments for 2018.

Sales

We shipped logging systems and software to 35 countries this past year, including 65 new customers from every region of the world. To better serve our international customers, we held our first-ever International Sales Rep Conference this past June. It was a huge success, attended by over 40 people representing 25 of our international sales partners. Our sales reps play a vital role in our success, and we wish to provide special recognition to our top-selling reps in 2017: Laurel Industrial (China), C&H (Korea), and Terraplus (Canada).

New Products

In any given year, Mount Sopris aims to improve the performance and reliability of existing products, as well as introduce innovative, new solutions to address challenges that our customers face. This past year we made the heat pulse flowmeter more robust, upgraded all the winch families, and created an in-line version of the FTC probe. Click here to learn more about these product enhancements. Regarding new products, Mount Sopris introduced the 19GR Nano Gamma probe, designed to fit inside geo push tubes for soil horizon and lithology profiling. At only 19mm (0.72 in.), it is the smallest diameter logging tool in the world. Two other exciting probes planned to be released in 2018 are the QL40-SIP – Spectral Induced Polarization and QL40-nGEN – D-D Neutron Generator.

The beta version of the QL40-SIP is currently being logged as part of our comprehensive validation of this new multi-frequency complex resistivity measurement that promises to yield in-situ estimates of hydraulic conductivity and grain attributes. The QL40-nGEN is a new slimline neutron generator, capable of delivering in-situ porosity and other properties but without an active radiation source. We are looking for partners with suitable projects to help us validate both of these new technologies. Finally, ALT released WellCAD 5.2 this past year, the newest version of the industry-leading log acquisition and processing software. New features include NMR processing and casing integrity modules, a color classification algorithm for televiewer images, and numerous productivity enhancing tools in the basic module.

Rental Equipment

Mount Sopris continued to add equipment to its rental pool in 2017, to accommodate the needs of customers with projects of limited duration. Perhaps most significant among these new products are two (2) QL-version Nuclear Magnetic Resonance geophysical logging tools manufactured by Qteq of Brisbane, Australia. As Qteq’s exclusive rental partner for North America, Mount Sopris is offering   the BMR probes either standalone or with a small-footprint MX winch and OPAL logger. Ideally suited for ground water exploration, results from BMR logging will help drillers, hydrogeologists, and water resource planners make informed decisions.

Customer Service

To provide the very best customer experience and value, Mount Sopris continued to focus on customer service in 2017 — shrinking lead-times, reducing cost, improving quality, and providing best-in-class technical support. With an average lead-time of less than 2 weeks and customer quality over 99%, we can help you keep your commitments with quick delivery and worry-free performance.
