Sales Terms and Product Warranty

Limited Warranty on New Products

Mount Sopris Instrument Company, Inc. (MSI) warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of shipment. MSI’s liability for the failure of its products is limited solely to the repair or replacement of defective products. MSI is not responsible for damage resulting from accidents, misuse, attempted alterations by the purchaser, or adverse downhole conditions.  Motor vehicles, cables, and other distinct components manufactured by others are not warranted by MSI. Through the purchase of the product, the customer accepts responsibility for the proper use, handling, shipping, and storage of the product, and assumes any and all risks for the proper care and use of the product. This includes, but is not limited to, fragile components such as scintillation crystals and photomultiplier tubes. MSI will not be liable for any special, incidental, consequential or other indirect damages arising out of any breach of its limited warranty.

Limited Warranty on Repaired Products

Products returned to MSI for repair following the initial warranty period will be warranted for six (6) months following the date of return shipment. The repair warranty will be limited to the actual repair or any part of the product affected by the repair process. All other limitations specified in the initial warranty will apply.

Warranty Return Procedure

If you suspect an MSI product has a warrantable defect, please contact us at tech.support@mountsopris.com or +1 303.279.3211. If the concern cannot be resolved over the phone or by email, the tech support representative will provide return authorization and further directions on what to return and how this should be done. You will also need to complete the form at www.mountsopris.com/repair-form.  Especially important is a detailed description of the concern, together with the original invoice number, serial number, or some other reference to the original sales order. Note that the customer is responsible to pay inbound shipping, but will be reimbursed for this cost if MSI has 1) authorized the return 2) authorized the method of shipment and 3) determined that the alleged defect is warrantable in accordance with this warranty policy.

What to do if there’s Shipping Damage

If a product is damaged in transit to the customer, the customer must complete a claim form at the time the product is received from the carrier. A written notice describing the goods concerned, nature of the damage, and all other related information must be filed with the carrier within seven (7) days of the date of receipt. MSI is not responsible for shipping damage.

Restocking and Storage Fees

Cancelled purchase orders or new products that are approved for return will be subject to a restocking fee of up to 20%. Completed sales orders that cannot be shipped due to non-payment will incur a 1% per month storage fee after 30 days. Completed repairs not paid for within 30 days following notification of the completion of the repair, will be subject to a 5% monthly charge to cover storage costs. After 6 months of non-payment, MSI has the right to dispose of the repaired equipment.

Ongoing Support of Products

MSI will support products for a minimum of 5 years following the date of purchase. Included in this commitment are consumables, replacement parts, repair service, and remote technical support. In the event that purchased components become obsolete and unavailable, MSI will make every effort to provide an alternative solution.
